How to copy an Instagram link
Find and copy the correct Instagram link for a Reel, video, photo, carousel or profile on iPhone, Android and desktop browsers.

Why the exact Instagram link matters
An Instagram downloader does not search your feed or guess which post you mean. It reads the URL you paste, identifies the public post type and resolves the media attached to that one address. Copying the specific post link is therefore the most important step in the workflow.
A profile URL such as instagram.com/username identifies an account, not a Reel or photo. It is suitable for the profile-picture tool, but it cannot tell a video downloader which of the account's posts to save. Likewise, a link to a hashtag, audio page, Explore result or direct-message thread is not a media-post URL.
Copy a post link on iPhone or Android
Open the individual post
Tap the Reel, photo, video or carousel so the individual post is open. Do not remain on the profile grid.
Open the share controls
Tap the paper-plane Share icon or the options menu shown with the post. Instagram may place Copy link directly in the share sheet.
Choose Copy link
Tap Copy link. Instagram places the URL on your device clipboard; you do not need to select or retype it.
Paste into the correct tool

Copy an Instagram URL on a computer
On instagram.com, open the individual post and copy the complete address from the browser's address bar. You can also use the post's options menu and choose Copy link. Both methods should produce an Instagram URL containing the post identifier.
If the browser address still shows only instagram.com or the creator's profile, click the post once more to open its dedicated page. The correct address usually contains a path such as /p/, /reel/ or a legacy /tv/ path.

What happens when the copied link is private?
Copy link does not change a post's audience. Instagram states that a link to content from a private account is viewable only by followers that account approved. A public downloader does not become an approved follower merely because it receives the URL.
Do not give a downloader your Instagram password or session cookie to make a private link work. Ask the creator for the file or use Instagram's authorized in-app experience if you are an approved follower.
