Quick answer

To download an IG photo, copy the post link, paste it into the box above and press Download. You get the full-size JPG Instagram stores — typically 1080 × 1350 for a portrait post — rather than the screen-sized, interface-cluttered copy a screenshot produces.

What you get every time you paste a link — no settings to choose and no version of this that costs money.

  • 03

    Multi-photo posts handled

Every slide of a carousel is detected and offered individually, in the order the creator arranged them.

  • 04

    Straight to your gallery

About the IG photo downloader

A screenshot is the reflex, and it is the worst option available. It captures whatever your screen was showing: the image scaled to fit, re-compressed by the screenshot itself, with a status bar at the top and a row of icons across the bottom. Crop those away and you are left with a fraction of the pixels the post actually contains.

Pasting the link here returns the JPG itself, at the dimensions Instagram stored when the creator uploaded it, with no interface baked in and nothing cropped off the edges.

The IG photo downloader is a browser-based tool that saves public Instagram photos to your device as JPG, with no account, no app and no Instagram login required. “IG” is simply how people abbreviate Instagram — the tool, the file and the result are the same either way.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the downloaded IG photo?

1080 pixels on the long edge for a standard post. Instagram resizes on upload and does not retain the creator's original file, so anything advertising a larger IG photo download is upscaling pixels that no longer exist.

Can I save all the photos in one post at once?

Yes. Paste the carousel's link and use 'Download all' to save every slide in sequence, or take just the individual slides you want.

Is downloading someone's IG photo legal?

Saving a copy for personal use is generally low-risk; republishing, selling or using it commercially is not, because the creator still holds copyright. Public visibility is not a licence — when in doubt, ask them.

Is saving an IG photo better than screenshotting it?

Yes. A screenshot is your screen re-photographed — cropped, re-compressed and full of interface. This returns the stored JPG itself at full dimensions.

Can I download an IG photo on Android?

Yes. Paste the post link in Chrome and press Download; the JPG saves straight to the Downloads folder and appears in the Files app and gallery.

Why can I not save a photo from a private IG account?

Because it is not publicly served, and reaching it would need a logged-in session. IGDownPro never asks for or uses Instagram credentials, so private posts are out of scope by design.
