Quick answer
On Android, copy the public Instagram post link, paste it into IGDownPro in Chrome and download the MP4 or JPG. Chrome saves files to the device's default Downloads location. Open Chrome → Downloads or the Files app to find, share, rename or move the result.
Download Instagram media on Android
Copy the individual Instagram link
Open the public Reel, photo, feed video or carousel. Use Share and choose Copy link rather than copying the profile address.
Open the matching downloader in Chrome
Choose the Reels, Video, Photo, Carousel or Profile Picture tool. A normal current Android browser works without a separate downloader app.
Paste and check the preview
Paste the complete URL and start the resolver. Confirm the preview or result list belongs to the correct post.
Download the file
Tap Download below the MP4 or JPG you want. For a mixed carousel, save files individually or use Download all if Chrome permits related downloads.
Open Downloads
Use Chrome's menu → Downloads or open the device Files app. Google says Chrome saves files in the default download location.
Why an Android download may not appear in Gallery
A browser download can exist correctly in the Downloads folder before a gallery app indexes it. Open the file from Chrome Downloads or Files first. If you want it grouped with camera media, move the MP4 to Movies/DCIM or the JPG to Pictures using the device's file manager.
Gallery behavior varies by Android manufacturer and app. Google Photos may show device folders separately, while another gallery indexes Downloads automatically. Do not repeat the download until you have checked the file manager.
Manage the downloaded MP4 or JPG
- Open Chrome → More → Downloads to see recent transfers.
- Use the Files app for the complete device folder view.
- Rename the file with a useful project or creator reference while preserving .mp4 or .jpg.
- Move personal files into Movies or Pictures when you want gallery apps to index them.
- Use Android's Share action to send the authorized file to another app.
- Delete duplicate or incomplete copies after confirming the working file.
Fix common Android download problems
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| Nothing happens after tapping Download | Check Chrome Downloads, allow the browser download prompt and temporarily review aggressive content blocking |
| Result is missing from Gallery | Open Files → Downloads; move it to Movies or Pictures if needed |
| Download all stops after one slide | Allow related downloads for the site or save carousel slides one at a time |
| File is incomplete | Delete it, confirm stable Wi-Fi/mobile data and retry once |
| Resolver says unavailable | Recopy the specific public post link and confirm it still opens in Instagram |
Avoid APK and account-login traps
A public Reel or photo does not require an APK. An install prompt may grant software far more access than a one-file download needs. Use a browser workflow and expect a normal media result, not an installer, archive or executable.
Never enter an Instagram password, session cookie or two-factor code into a downloader. IGDownPro supports public links only and does not become able to access private posts by receiving your credentials.
Use the native Instagram Download option when available
Public Reels can be downloadable inside Instagram when the creator and account settings permit it. Check the Share sheet before using another method. Native availability does not cover every post type and may include platform attribution.
For a full backup of your own account, use Accounts Center export. The browser downloader is for an individual supported public file, not a replacement for account export or private-session access.
